Our mission is to facilitate open dialogue in various areas of business and transactional law, to provide a forum for students to network both within the USD community as well as the surrounding legal community, to educate interested students in specialized issues of business law, and to positively impact the community through philanthropic ventures and service projects.
My name is Christopher Thien, and I am a 2L at USD School of Law. Prior to law school, I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Business Management Economics and worked in Marketing. Most recently, I was a Legal Extern at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. In my spare time I enjoy watching and playing sports and relaxing in Balboa Park.
I am a 2L at USD Law. Prior to attending law school, I graduated with a degree from Colorado State University in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and Marketing and a minor in French. I also worked for several years managing business transactions for an engineering company and worked in Paris, France for a short time. Most recently, I spent the summer as a Corporate Legal Intern at Noble Americas Energy Solutions. At USD Law, I am a member of the International Law Journal, Vice President of the Business Law Society, and Vice President of the Environmental Law Society. I am originally from Colorado and outside of law school, I enjoy traveling, outdoor adventuring, and whitewater rafting.
My name is Kat Castro and I am in my third year at USD Law. I received my undergraduate degree from USD with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Crime, Justice, Law, and Society. Prior to law school, I held a yearlong internship as an undergrad with the California Innocence Project, and spent the following year working as a legal assistant for a sole-practitioner in San Diego. While in law school, I participated in USD’s summer study abroad program in London, England and held an 8-month long position as a legal intern at the Tax Appeals Assistance Program through USD Law’s Legal Clinics program. In addition to my position as secretary for the Business Law Society (BLS), I am currently an Articles Editor and the CEL Symposium Coordinator for the San Diego Journal for Climate and Energy Law (JCEL). The legal areas I am interested in are International Contract Law and Construction Law. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, learning new languages, playing piano, gardening, going to the beach and Disneyland, and attending house music events.
I am a third-year law student. Prior to attending law school, I graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Liberal Studies. At USD I am a member of the International Law Journal, a Graduate Research Assistant, and an Academic Fellow. Outside of school I currently work as a Law Clerk at Thorsnes, Bartolotta & McGuire. In the past, I was a Mediation Coordinator and Legal Assistant at Huerta & Associates Mediation/Arbitration firm.
