San Diego Gulls: Q&A With Ari Segal

The San Diego Gulls are thrilled to welcome the USD Business Law Society and USD Sports & Entertainment Society for an exclusive discussion and Q&A session with the President of Business Operations, Ari Segal.

Segal first joined H&S Ventures, the holding company that owns the Anaheim Ducks and San Diego Gulls, as an intern while at Stanford Law School and the Stanford Graduate Business School.In his current role, Segal oversees allbusiness operations in San Diego, from sales and marketing to corporate partnerships, game-day ops and communications. He also acts as a special assistant to the CEO of the San Diego Gulls and Anaheim Ducks and the Managing Director of H&S Ventures.

Prior to joining the Anaheim Duck, Segal was an associate with McKinsey. He worked with the firm’s sports practice, advising clients on business and performance strategy and operations. During his time with McKinsey & Company, Segal conducted a study on player developmentthat included the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art player care and development system.

Segal, who received his MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he was an ArjayMiller Scholar, and his JD from Stanford Law School in 2013, also spent time working for the NHL while completing his degrees.

Before returning to school in 2010, Segal gained business experience on Wall Street as a private equity associate with CCMP Capital Advisors from 2007-2009 and as an investment banking analyst with Lehman Brothers from 2005-2007.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Pacific Coast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and of the advisory board of Crowdpoll, a Silicon Valley-based technology start-up focused on time and location-based content delivery and user engagement.
